HOW TO CELEBRATE LABOR DAY 2020 AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Get Out of Your Routine and Do Something Extraordinary

Show Kindness and Inspiration to Everyone

This is a BoomerGal and Labor Day THANK YOU to all the hero’s our there working to keep our lives running as smoothly and safely as possible during 2020.  To the hero’s who worked the front lines while many are sheltering due to the coronavirus or going out only for essentials.

To all the laborers who worked the front lines in hospitals, nursing homes, grocery stores, restaurants, trucking and delivery lines.  To all our brave men and women who put themselves on the front lines fighting raging wild-fires and to those men and women in blue who protect our cities.  And to our military who fight battles near and far to protect the sanctity of our democracy.  And to all the farmers and dairy workers who tirelessly provide everything we need.  Thank you all so very much.

I took cupcakes in the nursing home where my parents are located along with matching napkins, paper plates and plasticware with a note from my BoomerGuy and myself thanking all the caregivers for looking after my parents and just to let them know how much they are truly appreciated.  I delivered 48 colorful cupcakes to put some joy into the lives of these fabulous people.

My message for Labor Day, reach out to someone you know or don’t know and share a kind word or token of appreciation.  In the case of caregivers, firefighters, first responders, etc. drop off a small token of appreciation for working endlessly to keep us safe and healthy.  It takes a little bit of effort and thought, but the rewards it brings are endless.  Just go out and do something kind for someone else.

I heard back from the nursing staff that my cupcakes were a smashing success and brought about so much joy.  They deserved it and more.

A brief history on Labor Day is that it is a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September throughout the United States to recognize and honor the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.  It is that Monday we know as the Labor Day weekend.

Thank you to all the laborers for helping us get through 2020, and to keep our lives running.   A year we shall never forget—we are eternally grateful.
