As Seniors and Baby Boomers, We Are Confronted Daily With Aches & Pains

How We Get Them and What To Do About Them

Here’s what happens.  At our age and even younger, we find ourselves nursing strains and bruises in virtually every part of our body.  It’s either because we are weekend or weekday warriors going about our daily activities and exerting too much.  Whether it be pickleball, biking, hiking, golfing, tennis or even the most sublime, gardening.  We are putting our muscles to the test and often times we escape with aches and pains that just aren’t very nice.

Any of the above can contribute to our maladies.  We don’t select them, they select us.  Knee pain, back pain, shoulder pain from lifting too much, neck pain, or whatever it might be, when we wake in the morning it’s a whole new day trying to compensate.

And then there is the “I simply don’t know how I did it.”  At this age, it’s a comment that we all fear.  Was it the sneeze that took out my back, did I step off the curb wrong, did I twist when I shouldn’t have, or god forbid, did we sit on the couch too long.  Normally, we are pretty tuned into our bodies but sometimes things just happen without an explanation.

My BoomerGuy and I just returned from a two-week trip to the great Midwest visiting family and friends.  Along the way, we were lifting heavy and cumbersome suitcases, sleeping in beds that did not have good mattress support, sitting in cramped airplanes, driving in rental cars without suitable lumbar…

Having returned, we are now the victims of those dreaded body aches.  Having pain anywhere isn’t fun, but it does happen and more frequently than we like to acknowledge at our age.

I have a number of “go-to” pain relievers that seem to work quite well for my aches and pains, without reaching for those nasty prescription pain pills.  For my BoomerGuy and I, these are tried and true and proven relief medications and I fully support the claims made by the manufacturers.

All of these are available on Amazon, and can be readily purchased in varying quantities.  The constant that Amazon provides is good and fair pricing and rapid delivery, right to your doorstep.  There is no better remedy for your remedy than to have guaranteed delivery by pushing a button and not leaving your house. You don’t need to get on the road and experience the “great scavenger hunt” at your local pharmacies and big box stores.  Those often turn into mighty frustration when you can’t find the product or products you desire, or simply navigating the lousy parking lots.

My solution is four-fold.  Here are my favorite and proven products to help me get through the acute aches and pains of normal and not-so-normal daily living.

VOLTAREN:  an externally applied cream “used to treat symptoms of pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and mild-to-moderate pain.  Voltaren may be used alone or with other medications.” My primary care physician fully endorses the use of Voltaren.

SALONPAS:  an external patch for the skin “used at the point of discomfort for temporary relief of minor aches and pains caused by strains, sprains, arthritis, bruising, nerve pain, simple backache or pain in the lower spine.”

HEMP RELIEVE:  a topically applied cream “used to decrease muscle cramps, provide arthritis pain relief and lessen pain from strains, sprains and other discomforts.”

COPPER FIT: “provides support for muscle stiffness, soreness and pain.  All Copper Fit products are made of high-quality performance fabrics with copper ions bound to the fibers during manufacturing.  Moisture wicking technology helps prevent chafing and rashes.”

Of course, there are others on the market claiming the same therapeutic benefits as what I have quoted.  Currently these products listed above are available over-the-counter or online through Amazon.  If you need reassurance as to the product’s effectiveness, be sure to consult with your physician, also read the product insert detailing proper use and please be mindful of any specific side effects that you may experience.  For me, these work so why dance elsewhere.  Get busy, get on your computer and order these from Amazon and begin taking away the discomfort of whatever ails you.  THESE WORK! (for me, my BoomerGuy and my many friends and family members).

It’s essential you keep moving, otherwise they will cover you with a sheet to keep the dust off.  Ha.  Do the things you love, and know that an ache or pain might slow you down a bit, but will not deter you.

Remember the song by the Grateful Dead, “Truckin’.”  In the lyrics they say to “keep on truckin’ which is my message to you.
